Post 8 - location, location, location
Victor travels to many locations throughout today’s reading. Where does Victor end his journey? Describe where and how he decides to built his laboratory. Do you think this was a good location and why? Use specific examples from the text to support your explanations.
Victor's travels ended in Scotland. Victor leaves Clerval in order to start on his new creation. He decides to make his new labratory on a desolate island. Victor renovates a vacant hut for his labratory. This island although very run down and miserable seems to work perfectly for the creation of a new monster. Victor can work in peace here and there will be no one to observe his operations. Victor said that he " lived ungazed and unmolested".

Victor finally settles on secluding himself in a remote part of the Orkneys. He decided on this place because of the remoteness and the depressing scenery. Victor describes it as “being hardly more than a rock, whose high sides were continually beaten upon by the waves” (119). The ground was unwholesome to the plants that grew there. The hut in which he would reside till the creation of the bride was run down. For example, “The thatch had fallen in, the walls were unplastered, and the door was off its hinges” (119) . This seems to be the best place to build his laboratory because of the secludedness and the lifelessness that surrounded it. The house that he chose to build his laboratory has the basic necessities that Victor would require. Since he will have privacy, food, and his chemical instruments he will have everything that is necessary for build the companion for the creature.
