    "Benevolence"
    - the desire to do good to others
    - an act of kindness

From the point of view coming from the creature, I think the creature has benevolence toward human beings in his proposal of a companion. Due to his personal disformality, the creature can't find peace among humans. Thus, the creature desires to make himself extinct to the human race to not be the cause of anymore mishaps or even murders. He wants to be friends with humans, but this is not possible, so he decides to leave from human population for the benefit of the human race, hopeing not to cause anymore harm.

From Victor's perspective, he desires to something good for the creature and make his a companion. This will be beneficial for Victor and the entire human race.

  2. Benevolence is the want to do good things to others. It is an act of kindness. Benevolence applies to Chapters 16 through 19 so well because of how the creature acts. He yearns for the acceptance of human beings and tries to achieve it by being kind to others. When being kind doesn't work he tries to vanish from the human race.
